These are this summer's non-alcoholic trends

Settling down on a terrace is part of it in the summer. But during your break, such a visit to a terrace looks a bit different. Then it won't be a cold white wine or a 'thirst-quenching' beer. Fortunately, there are many options when it comes to alternatives. Below we explain the trends of summer 2023.

We have already written many articles about non-alcoholic alternatives. Sometimes it's a fad from Asia (Bubble tea), and sometimes it's a fermented drink (Kombucha). But it can also be something very simple: a homemade iced tea that offers you exactly the cooling you need on a hot day.

At IkPas we keep a close eye on trends. What hot is in the non-alcoholic field, read here.

Trend 1: Peruvian cuisine

Every year 'The World's 50 Best Restaurants' are chosen. This year, the world of gastronomy gathered in Valencia (Spain) in honor of the 21e edition. The undisputed number one is restaurant 'Central' in Lima, Peru. You may know Peruvian cuisine from the dish 'ceviche' (raw fish). But what you should also try, if you have the opportunity, is the 'Chicha morada', a purple-black drink made from boiled purple corn. This drink is also known as the 'sangria of Peru'. It can be drunk cold or hot and with or without alcohol. During your break you naturally choose the non-alcoholic variant; )

Trend 2: Brazilian thirst quencher

Whether or not you know your way around TikTok, the medium reveals all kinds of trends. Also in the culinary field. This summer we are en masse drinking Brazilian lemonade. The drink consists of sweetened milk, water, (frozen) limes, ice cubes and sprigs of mint. Cheers!

Trend 3: Only if it is icy and icy cold

The next trend is not necessarily drinkable or easy to order on a terrace. But too nice to remember it. The ice cream praline is a trend this summer. Many chocolate brands and chocolatiers are launching various creative ice cream pralines. Designer ice cubes are also a hit this summer. A logo or drawing is melted into ice cubes with a stamp just before serving. That gives a nice twist to an alternative drink.
