I do dranquilo so I IkPas

IkPas is an initiative of the Positive Lifestyle Foundation. Consciously dealing with your alcohol consumption is a healthy choice and will bring you a lot of good. In the month of January we put ourselves alcohol consumption so on a massive break. More often, by the way. Do not drink in April or take an alcohol break just after the summer holidays. Just do some 'dranquilo'. Dranquilo is the government's new alcohol campaign.

The campaign – with a special focus on the elderly, students and rural youth – is the result of the agreements in the National Prevention Agreement to raise awareness of the use of alcohol and the level of knowledge about its effects. One of the objectives is to reduce the percentage of excessive drinkers by 2040 from 8.8% to 5% and of the percentage of heavy drinkers from 8.5% to 5%. However, alcohol use is deeply embedded in Dutch culture.

It is the first time since the 1990s that the government has launched a campaign to become more aware of alcohol consumption. The Dranquilo campaign shows that not drinking or drinking less alcohol is very normal and that you do not fall outside the group if you do not drink. Doing dranquilo is healthy! The term dranquilo comes from the Spanish word 'tranquilo', which means 'take it easy'. If you do not drink alcohol – for a shorter or longer period of time – you can indicate this by saying: “I am dranquilo.” or "Tonight I'm having a nice dranquilo".

Eight out of ten Dutch people over the age of 18 sometimes drink alcohol, often for fun. Last year, however, it appeared from the Alcohol Exam, which the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport held together with the Trimbos Institute, that 16% of the Dutch is considering drinking less in the future. Also this year more people than ever participated in Dry January and non-alcoholic beer is becoming increasingly popular.
