New initiatives to reduce alcohol consumption
A lot is happening in the field of alcohol and its use. Today we put the spotlight on various initiatives to reduce alcohol consumption and to encourage alcohol moderation. We update you.
Focking Sober
Sounds a bit harsh, but it's a nice idea. The duo Ethelle and Victoria from Belgium came up with the concept of 'Focking Sober'. The two friends met a few years ago when they both struggled with alcohol addiction. This concept has been specially devised for lovers of techno, punk, rap, drag and clubbing who want to experience a great night out, without the intoxication of alcohol or drugs. 24 artists have to provide a night out where five multidisciplinary artists also exhibit with diverse work: from paintings and drawings to tattoos and digital art. The first edition will take place in Brussels on 14 September. Source: vrt.be.
Become a club of NIX too
NOC*NSF takes a stand when it comes to responsible alcohol policy at clubs. In other words: the umbrella organization supports the NIX18 campaign with which the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) encourages sports clubs not to serve alcohol to minors. What can you do as a sports club? Order the free NIX18 sports package and decorate your canteen with NIX18 sports materials such as coasters, posters and tape. Order the package via NIX18. As a NIX club you have the chance to win a great clinic or lecture from a TeamNL member. Source: nocnsf.nl
Free taxi ride for drunken Italian revelers
Italy has launched an initiative to reduce the high number of road deaths, especially during festive summer weekends. In the first half of 2023, 600 people died in Italian traffic, the last weekend of July there were 35 in one weekend. In the experiment, young revelers are encouraged to voluntarily take a breathalyzer test before getting behind the wheel. If the test indicates there's a little too much "revelry" in their system, a taxi is waiting to take them home for free, at the taxpayer's expense. Italian Transport Minister Matteo Salvini launched the plan, which will run from August to mid-September. If successful, the experiment may be extended. Source: ditisitalie.nl
