Omroep Brabant says: 'Come on Tilburgers'
The news does not seem to get through to the Tilburgers yet. At the beginning of December, Nijmegen invited the Kruikenzeikers for a real battle. Under the motto 'IkPas' they called on both their own residents and those of Tilburg not to drink alcohol for a month in January. But where the Gelderlanders work energetically, the people from Brabant stay where they are. The result? 808 Nijmegen citizens battle against, so far, 129 Tilburgers.
And that could be better, according to Omroep Brabant. They call on Tilburg residents to register and not to let the people of Nijmegen eat the cheese of the bread. Meanwhile, the number of participants in Nijmegen is steadily increasing.
The reason why the Tilburgers stay behind? The broadcaster thinks it has to do with the faces of the campaign. Mayor Bruls calls on the people of Nijmegen to participate, opposite alderman Dols van Tilburg. Whatever the case may be: the people of Tilburg have to get to work. “Come on, Tilburgers. Do your best and sign up. We still have two weeks to beat the Nijmegenians. The pubs are closed and carnival will probably become a digital party. So what difference does it make?”, says Omroep Brabant.

Small side note: contrary to what is said in the article, the battle will also continue during Dry January. The Brabant city therefore still has plenty of time to fight back. On the other hand, this gives Nijmegen residents ample opportunity to further strengthen their leading position. Exciting!
