This way you get a summer body

June is the month in which we welcome summer. Time for T-shirts, shorts, bikinis and swimming trunks. Then it's nice if you're comfortable in your skin. Below you can read how to grow a summer body.

First this: a summer body is a body in which you feel good. Maybe that's a tighter body or a few pounds less for you. It comes down to getting rid of your 'winter coat'. And this break month is the ideal month to make a start. But how do you do that?

Bring offerings

You (unfortunately) don't get a summer body automatically. It means you have to train and leave unhealthier things for it. You are already doing a good job as far as 'offering' is concerned, because this month is your break month in which you don't drink a drop of alcohol. And alcohol, as you may know, is a fattener.

Drinking alcohol will not make you slim. In fact, it makes your pants even tighter. Drinks contain only empty calories. In other words: calories that do nothing for your body. And then those snacks… they go straight to the stomach or hips. Read more about alcohol as a fattener here.

More muscle mass, less fat

Because muscles provide a tighter body, you want to grow more muscle mass. You do this, for example, through cardio and strength training. If you step up your training, it is important to get enough protein in addition to sufficient rest.

If you want to build muscle mass, the advice is, for example, to eat about 2 grams of protein per kilo of body weight per day. To lose weight, the advice is to get about 1 to 1.5 grams of protein per kilo of body weight per day.

Water, water, water

Water is always important to drink, especially if you want to grow a summer body. Water ensures less hunger, better physical performance and a faster recovery after exercise.

So (first train and) let that summer come!
