Hello everyone,
Is everyone still there or have they already dropped out, I hope not.
Are you also looking forward to the daily newsletter, I am, even though you have already read a lot about stopping drinking alcohol and you actually know everything they write, for me it is something to hold on to. I am so aware that my standard drink at 5 pm has made me miss many evening hours in my life, because once you've been drinking you can't leave. For example, your girlfriend calls you and says: “I have a card left due to illness. Do you feel like coming, I'm already in the theater." Then I can't go because I've been drinking. Another example: eating out is only possible in the village, otherwise someone has to be the BOB. Later when I became a widow, I had an activity every night for distraction, but also at 10 pm a bottle opened and emptied. I leave all this behind now. So feel free to call me in the evening!
I find it funny that there is now so much emphasis on saying 'no'. All my life I'd rather say yes than no, but a person is never too old to learn. Mieke Koster my diet guru always says: "I can do it, but I don't want it." So think about these 40 days without, "I can, but I don't want to."
My friend who is also participating lacks the support of friends a bit, they say, “Oh, you don't drink. Then what? Water, tea?” And then my girlfriend says: "No, I don't drink alcohol, but would like to drink a nice mocktail." Martini has published a very nice folder with recipes of non-alcoholic mixes. The shops of Simon Leveld have a booklet with festive dishes with matching teas. For example, I now drink a cup of ginger tea with a rice table and that combines very well.
So flip that switch and look beyond that alcoholic drink.
See you again next week.
