15 corona-proof ways to relax

Now that we are at home even longer, because of the coronavirus you want to prevent boredom from striking. Boredom makes you feel uncomfortable and revert to old familiar things, such as a glass of alcohol. And you don't want that. So what can you do to fight boredom? We come up with 15 ways of corona-proof pastime.

  1. Mindfulness

The coronavirus causes stress for many people. Therefore, practicing mindfulness may be a good idea. Take the time to really think about your thoughts and feelings. A great way to become more aware of how you want to organize your life.

  1. Sports in the garden

YouTube is bursting with fun workouts. Always been one six pack wanted? This is your chance. Would you rather go kickboxing for an hour? Or rather boot camps? There is something for everyone! Give everything and you will see that it literally and figuratively makes you stronger.

  1. Gardening

Work in the garden. Studies show that digging into the earth has an incredible anti-anxiety effect. Nice pastime in virus time.

  1. read

So much more time for so many more books. Eating letters instead of drinking drinks. Better right?

  1. Kitchen prince(ss)

Dive into your kitchen. From all that hoarded rice and pasta you can probably make something tasty.

  1. Start your own business

Always dreamed of owning your own company? Now is the time to work on it. Write a business plan and take the first steps.

  1. Clean up your attic / garage / shed / utility room

There is always a room in the house that deserves a major clean-up. Roll up your sleeves and get started!

  1. DIY

Have you been annoyed by that not-so-color in the hallway for years? That empty space under the closet? That crooked tile in the bathroom? Roll up your sleeves and tackle those annoyances. Please note: hardware stores are closed, but you can order and pick up.

  1. Subtle DIY

Also DIY, but more subtle, is coloring for adults, crochet, diamond painting or for example sticker mosaic. You really have your head elsewhere for a while.

  1. Diary

At the end of the day, write how it went. What was nice? What went less? What are you grateful for? Writing is therapeutic. Real.

  1. Watching a movie

Normally you may not allow it yourself or find that you don't have time for it. Now there is no excuse. And you can eat as much popcorn as you want.

  1. Games Marathon

From goose board to people-don't annoy you, from Beveren to Monopoly and back again. Whole days at home (with children) becomes more fun when you play a game (or three) together.

  1. Put a puzzle of at least 1000 pieces

Relaxing and time consuming.

  1. Call friends or write letters

Have you not spoken to a family member or friend in a while? There is a good chance that he or she is also inside and therefore has time to catch up with you. Or send a nice letter. Fun for the sender and the receiver.

  1. Make a mood board

Renovation plans? Looking for a new one look? Ready for a new haircut? Grab a stack of old magazines and cut out the most beautiful, inspiring pictures. Stick them on a large piece of cardboard or paper and create the perfect atmosphere.

  1. Learn a new language

What will it be: French, Greek, Italian, Spanish or Chinese? No time is no longer an excuse.

Of course there are many more hobbies and other forms of pastime to think of. It's about doing something that you've been thinking about for a long time. And that, last but not least, you now just do something that keeps you busy. The next few weeks will still look different than usual. Good luck!
