Brabant-Southeast
For many people, alcohol means fun and is part of it. However, it is advisable to watch your alcohol consumption. At an older age, the body tolerates alcohol worse than at a young age.
This is because the elderly have less body water and a relative increase in fat. In addition, in many elderly people the liver and kidneys work less and the physical resistance decreases. As a result, the same amount of alcohol leads to higher blood levels, lower tolerance and faster intoxication and organ damage. In other words, the elderly are generally more likely to be drunk and a small amount of alcoholic beverages can sometimes already have harmful effects.

Men drink more than 21 glasses a week, women 14!
In Southeast Brabant, 37,000 adults drink too much alcohol every week. This means that men drink more than 21 and women more than 14 drinks a week. GGD Brabant-Zuidoost therefore calls on everyone to put alcohol use on a break. It's easier if you can do this with others. Will you join us? We hope you notice that drinking less alcohol can be positive, who knows, maybe you will be able to drink a little less after this period.
